My friend called and asked if I wanted to go to some street races downtown. I'd never been so I had to follow him out in his truck. I've got another friend in the car with me and were talkin, so I'm not paying attention as two other cars get between us and the guy I'm following. I decide to pull out into the fast lane and get behind him again, only the cars that were in front of me are on his ass. And then it happens.... a long straight stretch of rode on the highway with no cars in front of us for at least 1/2 mile. I think about for about half a second and then give it the gas. We get to 140 mph before I decide I need to start slowing down as we are coming up on the traffic quickly. I bring it down to 55 so my friend can catch up. Me and my friend in the car are trying to figure out how much more room I had before I hit the upper limit since I forgot to look at the tach until we had slowed down to about 110. Thats when the cop rolls up doing about 70. He slows down looks over at us and then just drives away! What was funny was the valentine never went off so he must have been trying to catch up with us and then pull us over. My friend in the truck said he was right behind me when I took off. He followed the cop as well as he could and said it looked like the cop tried to catch us for a few seconds and then just gave up! He was probably off duty but anyways I felt like needed to tell this because how many times do you get a "get out a jail free" card anyways.
